Meals & Nutrition

baking Scones

The Food & Nutrition we provide our children with at Cliff House is planned & prepared with a great deal of care. All our food is prepared and cooked on the premises from fresh ingredients by our nursery cook. Whole foods, such as fresh fruit & vegetables, brown rice and lean meat are included in all our meals. Special dietary requirements, eg. vegetarian; food allergies; & religious practices can be catered for by our experienced team.

Breakfast: All children are invited to join us for breakfast which is available between 8.30 and  9am. Cereal, porridge, toast and whole milk are available.

At lunch time, the children enjoy a two course cooked meal. We use an 8 week rolling menu which provides a wide variety of meals and desserts. Anything from chicken risotto to braised lamb and Yorkshire pudding are on offer together with a delicious dessert. Weekly menus are displayed in our Reception and sample menus are available to view by clicking on the ''Menus'' information page.

In the afternoon, around 3pm, the children tuck in to afternoon tea. Bread, butter, cheese, ham, etc are on offer together with a selection of fruit, a drink of water or milk and a treat—usually a biscuit or, if the children having been baking, perhaps a homemade cake or scone!

Drinks of milk or water are available to the children throughout the day. Each child has their own named drinks bottle which is cleaned and replenished with fresh water everyday. During warm weather, additional drinks are given to the children to ensure they are kept properly hydrated. Children in our Baby unit are allocated their own individual cup and are offered cooled, boiled water as well milk to drink.
